Well yes and no.  Everyone says they will guarantee the basement dry for the life of the home but unfortunately this is just not possible.  Most systems can’t/won’t clog.  If there is iron in the water, there is a greater chance of clogging (and in the contract there is typically verbiage around this).  Also, all interior drainage system are dependent on a sump pump.  SUMP PUMPS WILL FAIL!  Tomorrow? -Probably not.  Most pumps are warrantied for 3 years.  Typical life spans on pumps are 7/8 years.  Battery back ups and secondary pump will help for a limited time (8-10 hours in most cases).  It is always best to have a generator in addition to all this.

Also, a word of advice, all of these companies will have the “dry basement guarantee”, however they don’t cover damages to your basement or belongings when the pump or the system fails.

We do, however, we are still limited by the amount of staff we currently have. When emergencies come up, we may be working in the field on another client’s system and we might not be able to get to you right away. If it is overnight, we may have someone available but they will typically have a list of people to see and it could be hours, maybe even a day or two until we can get to you. This is very common in the bigger companies as well. They will have a few thousand people on their customer list and only 1/2 people available during emergency hours. It is always best to give yourself the best possible chance to keep water out by adding a secondary pump, battery backup and generator.

Even if they made a product that could perfectly seal all the walls and floor, we would not entertain the thought of using that. All you have accomplished is trapping water inside your walls and floor (which is definitely not good), if it is winter time and the temperature drops, the water will freeze, expand and crack the foundation, leaving you with a larger problem to address.

The best way to stop a foundation crack from leaking is from the exterior. However, if you must inject a crack, there is a chance it can work. A lot of the injections will fail (whether they have a warranty or not) simply because the foundation is moving and they don’t flex with the home enough.

In the construction industry, businesses holding a contracting license are generally regarded as safe and trustworthy, because the criteria for obtaining one are much higher than merely registering as a contractor. Additionally, states generally approve contractors for different construction jobs rather than just one trade.
